    Description

    On offer is an undated (c. 11th c.) France - County of Poitou “Charles the Bald” Denier silver coin in estimated Very Fine to Extremely Fine condition. It is approximately 21mm in diameter.
    The obverse inscription, MET.ALO, identifies the mint at Melle under the direction of the Counts of Poitou.
    The reverse legend inscription, CAROLVS.REX.R, invokes the Carolingian Emperor Charles the Bald (r. 875-877).
