Description
OUT OF PRINT BOOKAMERICAN TOBACCO CARDS Price Guide & Checklist, by Robert Forbes & Terence Mitchell. This is the most thorough guide to 19th and 20th Century American tobacco cards ever produced, covering all of the known non-sport insert and premium tobacco card series. Each set description contains a write-up, card, size, value, and background information and most also have a checklist and picture of an example card as well. Additionally, there is a section on the historical background surrounding the development of the tobacco industry and information on the companies that produced the cards. The book contains a cross-reference index which is of great value for identifying cards and has 80 pages in color as well. This is a great asset and reference for vintage card collectors, dealers, paper advertising ephemera enthusiasts, and also those interested in the artwork of the Victorian era. NOTE: The card series covered are N1-N694 and T1-T177 as listed in the American Card Catalog. Card issues above T200 (sports and novelty issues) are not covered. Those issues, along with tobacco silks, flannels, leathers, albums, and pins will be covered in another book.
